PROFESSIONAL OBJECTIVE
To contribute to the growth and development of instrumental students, as well as the music education profession, through exemplary teaching, community outreach, professional service, and other scholarly endeavors. Â More specifically, to elevate the understanding of music education and advocate all students to receive a comprehensive and sequential music education that prepares them for lifelong involvement in music.

July 2021 - Present
Served as a high school music teacher, teaching instrument music to students in grades nine through twelve. Conducted and rehearsed three levels of concert band, a jazz ensemble, marching band, and athletic pep band, as well as taught a separate piano course. Collaborated with choir, orchestra, and theatre teachers to develop programs, curriculum, and teaching strategies for music education. Facilitated fundraising for the band program. Prepared and presented at least four performances annually. Escorted students to a variety of performance assessments, including Solo & Ensemble competitions and organizational festivals.

Supplemented teaching at the middle school-level. Taught pullout sectionals at feeder schools. Collaborated to develop a relationship between middle school and high school. Organized events to include and recruit middle school students, such as joint performances.
July 2014 - June 2021
Served as a middle school music teacher, providing instrumental music to students in grades six through eight. Expanded the instrument program to include 25% of the student population; collaborated with choir, theatre, and art teachers to develop programs, curriculum, and teaching strategies for music education; facilitated fundraising for the music department; established and maintained the middle school jazz band; recruited incoming sixth grade students for band; prepare and present at least two performances annually; escort students to a variety of performance assessments, including Solo & Ensemble competitions and middle school band competitions.

Served as the team leader for the Related Arts department. Facilitated department meetings; helped develop strategies to incorporate literacy and numeracy into Related Arts classes (music, art, theater, P.E., etc.); collaborated with building leadership to assess and enact the vision for the school; analyzed standardized test data as a leadership team, then presented that data to department; attended workshops to incorporate Project-Based Learning into the classroom.

Contributed heavily to the high school-level instrumental program. Led trumpet and brass sectionals; taught and evaluated marching technique and drill; attended all marching band performances; directed band camp rehearsals; assisted with preparation for performance at Carnegie Hall. Collaborated to develop a relationship between middle school and high school; organized events to include middle school students, such as pep band performances and joint concerts; delegated and supervised student-led sectionals.

Taught individual private lessons for trumpet and other brass instruments. Coached students of all ages to excel in music performance; planned repertoire for solo contest performance; collaborated with area band and orchestra directors to prepare students for competitions and evaluations.

Taught high school-level instrumental music, including concert and jazz bands. Lead sectionals and full rehearsals for sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students. Assisted with the organization and production of the Jazz Dinner Dance, the band's most successful fundraiser of the year.
